![]() ![]() But again, messing with the hackclient developers is not the right way, from an ethical perspective as well as from an effective perspective. I can understand tho that admins do not want hackers on their servers, especially on competitive servers. When a person joins server, gets away from spawn a bit, then builds a base for themselves, using ressources gathered using X-Ray, Flying, and using Killaura to hunt mobs, what is the problem with that? If somebody gets an advantage, what is the problem as long as other players are not affected? But as long as the hackers don't use their hacks against other players or the server infrastructure, what is the problem with them. Many people think that hackers are always malocious. On all of them, except the SMP which is whitelisted and based on trust anyway, hacking is allowed, as long as no rules are broken. I am a server admin myself (Elidragon Skyblock, Skycraft, Crafter Dev, Fleckenstein SMP). They just decided to bully the developers of the tool that is used to cause havoc, instead of looking for an easy and already accessible solution.Īgain, I want to make clear that I completely understand the struggles these administrators had. When asking the admins what their biggest problems are, guess what they said? Fly and Noclip. Anyway, there are several anticheat mods that prevent fly and noclip and they are pretty reliable. It is still possible to fly/noclip, but I do not consider that an exploit, since it requires a single line of code and there is no builtin protection against that. Nowadays dragonfireclient is about utilities and bots rather then exploits. If you do not know the history, do not make random assumptions. From that day on I have always been open to helping people develop cheat protection mods and providing them with information to improve NoCheat. The day later, he apologized on discord and we worked together, I patched the EntitySpeed exploit, and he patched the InventoryExploit using information that I provided him with. Then I demonstrated the InventoryExploit. A bit later, appguru joined the Clamity server and we got into a fight because he considered the features in dragonfireclient trivial and his opinion was that I'm wasting my talent. ![]() The other one, the InventoryExploit (Which allowed accessing all inventories of online players), was discovered by anon5, a friend of mine, and he immediately emailed sfan5. There have been two other exploits, the ParticleExploit (a coordinate exploit), which was discovered by the anarchy and patched by the minetest devs during a time when I was inactive for a while. But obviously it's not worth researching on the person you are offending. After finding the EntitySpeed exploit, I made a pull request patching it. I'll say it once and for all, currently there are no exploits in dragonfire that are not patched. This just, once again, demonstrates the ignorance. Many of them were talking about "exploits", they were telling me "to dedicate my time to patching the anti-cheat code instead of adding new exploits here". This is just not ok.Īnother point that heavily bothers me is that they do not even know what dragonfire really does, and what history it had. On discord someone told me "Anarchy servers that encourage hacking should not exist". The anarchy community might be far smaller than the Communities of their servers but that does not give anybody the right to suppress it or to attack a tool that was created by anarchy players for anarchy players. There are anarchy servers, like Clamity that allow hacking, and this client was created for the sole purpose of playing on this server. But Dragonfireclient has a community as well. They are worried about their community, that is fine, and I am willing to help them. While I can totally understand what motivates the admins to try to make me prevent the abuse of my client, I am not fine with the way they did it and the ignorance that their suggestions demonstrated. I the further discussion I have been insulted the same happened on Discord. Recently some server administrators have started an issue on the Dragonfire Repository, telling me to delete this repository or make it private. A custom version string was added to dragonfireclient, and the issue mentioned later in the text was closed by the person that opened it.
